General Rules

 
1. At all competitions everyone mounted, whether a competitor or not, must wear protective headgear.  This must contain a PERMANENTLY FITTED NON-DETACHABLE RETAINING HARNESS secured to the shell at more  than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the harness properly fitted and adjusted.  Failure to do so will incur elimination.  It is recommended that all members should wear the PAS015 or BN1384 hat or risk not being insured under the clubs insurance. Level 3 back protectors are compulsory at all Cross Country, HT, ET and ODE events. Medical armbands are recommended.

2. All competitors must wear the correct dress and footwear.  Cross country  jumpers and silks may be worn when appropriate. Only leather gaiters are acceptable - no suede chaps.
 
3. All cars and horseboxes are parked at the owner’s risk. 
 
4. The organisers will not accept responsibility for accidents to competitors, animals, vehicles or spectators. 
 
5. The judges decision is final - objections to be made to the secretary, with a deposit of £10, within 10 minutes of the finish of the class.  The deposit will be  refunded if the objection is upheld. 
 
6. Most trophies are perpetual challenge trophies and must be returned by the date given in clean condition. This year trophies will only be presented to PDRC members.
 
7. Ages are as at 1st January 2003.
 
8. The organisers reserve the right to change, alter or cancel a class or event if necessary. 
 
9. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. 
 
10. No horse or pony may enter a class more than once. 
 
11. The practice fence must not exceed the height of the fences in the class being run.  Competitors found breaking this rule may be eliminated. 
 
12. Ponies UK qualification cards (for Crowland Showjumping)  It is important that all qualification cards are presented with the rosettes in the  ring and the pony/horses name completed and signed by the judge or steward in order that the card is valid. All recipients of a Qualification Card, if not already members of Ponies UK MUST become members and the horse or pony registered within 7 days of the qualifying show. 
 
13. CROSS COUNTRY 
 
1st refusal, run out or circle at fence 20 penalties
2nd refusal, run out or circle at fence 40 penalties
3rd refusal, run out or circle at fence Elimination 
Fall on the course 60 penalties
Taking the wrong courseor failure to negotiate part of the course  Elimination
 
Novice horse/pony may continue on the course when eliminated, but they must  not impede any other rider.  They may only attempt each fence TWICE after elimination and MUST NOT enter the time section.  Please remember when  you are asked to move on from a fence to do so IMMEDIATELY and POLITELY - fence judges do the job voluntarily and without them the event  would not take place. 
 
DRESSAGE AND ODE’s to be run under BHS Riding Clubrules 
SHOWJUMPING to be run under BSJA rules 
SHOWING to be run under Ponies UK rules 
 
14. Prize money will be related to the number of entries per class: 
Less than 6 entries 1st only 
6 to 10 entries 1st and 2nd only 
11 to 15 entries 1st, 2nd and 3rd only 
16 or more entries 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th 
 
15. INSURANCE 
Members of the Peterborough and District Riding Club will be insured in accordance with the British Horse Society insurance policy for affiliated riding clubs. 
 
16. THE COMMITTEE OF PETERBOROUGH & DISTRICT RIDING CLUB RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY TO ANY SHOW  OR PARTICULAR CLASS AND THE RIGHT TO OMIT OR ALTER  ANY CLASS IN ANY SHOW.
